Challenge!!

I’ve decided to enter NaBloPoMo for November.  If you don’t know what that is, it is National Blog Posting Month — a sort of virtual blog writers group, encouraging bloggers and sharing work. While I have been writing consistently since retiring from teaching in June, Farmhouse has been silent.  As ongoing posts will no doubt detail, life has been hectic with family issues, travel and general adjustment to the life of a retiree. I’ve always been a great one for meeting deadlines and it just seems appropriate to jump start this blog with a daily deadline.  Ambitious after my on again off again blogging?  Yes. I hope you will join me, if only to see if I fall flat on my face!

Transitions

2013 is going to be a year of change for 542. After a few years of on/again off/again, Mr. D has joined Ms. D full time, and is in the process of selling his newly remodeled mid-century modern condo.  We are both ready to simplify our possessions, and merge our art, our habits and our lives.  As two who have had decades to acquire both stuff and opinions, it will be an interesting project.  I’ll keep you posted!

It’s Summer!

Even though it isn’t yet June 21st, the HHH weather forecast combined with the end of the school year (and hence the beginning of my summer “vacation” ) means that summer is here. I’m deep into gardening, cooking, and more home improvements on my nearly 100 year old farmhouse. Stay tuned for musings and progress reports.
